Id – is the unorganized part of the personality structure which contains the basic drives. The id contains the libido, which is the primary source of instinctual force that is unresponsive to the demands of reality. The id acts according to the «pleasure principle», seeking to avoid pain or displeasure aroused by increases in instinctual tension. The id contains everything that is inherited, that is present at birth, is laid down in the constitution – above all, therefore, the instincts, which originate from the somatic organization, and which find a first psychical expression here (in the id) in forms unknown to us. Identification – a defense mechanism, operating unconsciously, by which one patterns oneself after some other person. Identification plays a major role in the development of ones personality and specifically of the superego. To be differentiated from imitation or role modeling, which is a conscious process. Identity formation (personal formation) – is the development of the distinct personality of an individual regarded as a persisting entity (known as personal continuity) in a particular stage of life in which individual characteristics are possessed and by which a person is recognized or known (such as the establishment of a reputation). This process defines individuals to others and themselves. Pieces of the entity's actual identity include a sense of continuity, a sense of uniqueness from others, and a sense of affiliation. Identity formation leads to a number of issues of personal identity and an identity where the individual has some sort of comprehension of him or herself as a discrete and separate entity. This may be through individuation whereby the undifferentiated individual tends to become unique, or undergoes stages through which differentiated facets of a person's life tend toward becoming a more indivisible whole. IFP – an IFP (Independent Fostering Provider) is an organization that places children into foster placements on behalf of the Local Authority.
