Competence (human resources) – a standardized requirement for an individual to properly perform a specific job. Conference (pedagogical) – collective discussion of books, performances, films for the purpose of allocation of the ethical standards declared in work, and formations of the relation defined to them. Conformity – is the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to group norms. Norms are implicit rules shared by a group of individuals, that guide their interactions with others and among society or social group. This tendency to conform occurs in small groups and/or society as a whole, and may result from subtle unconscious influences, or direct and overt social pressure. Conformity can occur in the presence of others, or when an individual is alone. For example, people tend to follow social norms when eating or watching television, even when alone. Confucius (551–479 BC) – a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher. The philosophy of Confucius emphasized personal and governmental morality, correctness of social relationships, justice, and sincerity. Confucius's thoughts received official sanction and were further developed into a system known as Confucianism. Confucius is traditionally credited with having authored or edited many of the Chinese classic texts including all of the Five Classics. Aphorisms concerning his teachings were compiled in the Analects, but only many years after his death. Confucius's principles had a basis in common Chinese tradition and belief. He championed strong family loyalty, ancestor worship, respect of elders by their children (and in traditional interpretations of husbands by their wives), and family as a basis for ideal government. He espoused the well-known principle «Do not do to others what you do not want done to yourself», an early version of the Golden Rule. Connected person – a connected person who is a family member (whether by birth or marriage/civil partnership), friend of, or other person who is known to, the child. They can be child minders, teachers, youth workers or others working in a professional capacity with the child. Contact – the process whereby children stay in touch with people who are important to them, including relatives such as parents and grandparents as well as others, such as former foster carers.
