The idea o f a historical research o f domestic statistics through a prism o f bibliographic study o f the publications, have remained. F r o m the first w o r k the principle o f construction o f the book and index o f sources o f data for 1918—1972 are saved. The index o f the present issue is tended in time and space as much as possible. The number o f the involved and considered statistical sources has increased in 4.5 times. The present issue represents an attempt o f drawing up peculiar annals o f statis tics. Its authors (being not only the witnessesm but also participants of realization o f many o f "statistical measures" on steep bends o f development of the theory and practice o f domestic statistics), managed illuminate a number o f moments, more detailed which hadn't found their reflection in the earlier issued publications, but also, having had access practically to all o f statistical archives, existing in country, to take advantage o f the not lost materials, to enter these materials into turn-over and by that to present more completely the index o f sources o f data. I n 1975 the work "The Statistical Publications in the USSR" was positively met by the public. I n 1976 four positive reviews were published on the given book i n the following journals: "Planned Economy" ( N o 5, p.p. 157-158), "The Bulletin o f Sta tistics" ( № 6, p.p. 76-79) and "Economy o f Soviet Ukraine" ( № 7, p.p. 90-92). The issue o f this book is marked in bibliographic sections o f "The Scientific Notes on Statistics o f Academy o f Science o f the USSR" ( M . : "Science" Publish ing House 1976, 1981 etc.). The issue is recommended to the readers by the abstract directories, for example by "The Abstract Collection" o f Institute o f Scientific Information on Public Sciences AS o f the USSR ( M . , 1976) and abstract-biblio graphic directory "History o f Statistics in the USSR" o f Informational-publishing center o f Research Institute o f Statistics o f Goskomstat o f the USSR ( M . , 1988). Practically in all high school textbooks the book is recommended as a source additional literature not only on statistics, but also on archival business, sourceslearning and other disciplines. The high evaluation o f the first issue o f the book was given on meeting o f Statistical section o f the House o f the scientists o f the AS o f the USSR. The authors have received the grateful letters for issuing the book "The Statistical Publications in the USSR" w i t h its favorable evaluation from a number o f pro fessors—managers o f faculties o f statistics o f K i e v , Odessa, R o s t o v - o n - D o n , Moscow and number o f foreign universities. The positive evaluation o f the first edition o f the book promoted making the decision about its republishing. Aca demician N . P. Fedorenko strongly recommended not to put aside this business in a long box. 1 2 "Sources-study of History of the USSR". The textbook for library faculties of institutes of culture, pedagogic institutes and universities— Publishing house "Book", M : 1976 etc. Here is one short quotation from such references of professor I.G. Maley. Saying "... about utility of the book" he, as a researcher of Lenin's statistical legacy, notes: " 1 was interested in the list of white-color in Moscow in 1922. It is mentioned by Lenin (V. 45, p. 441). Lenin was interested in this list being already seriously ill (see V. 45, p. 485).
