M a n y o f the problems in a view o f their huge volume could be only raised example, problems o f self-sufficiency, completeness and exactitude o f the data represented in the publications, indicated in the index, degree o f their convergence; lots o f other problems, are only pointed in particular problems o f drawing up the bibliographic index o f earlier secret data or the problem o f a global evaluation o f reliability o f data for all considered period. The authors fing it possible only at a very general level to affect and only at a first approximation to designate the problems o f j o i n t development o f the bibliographic index o f the statistical publications and statistical data, cross and comparative analysis o f the bibliographic i n dexes of different countries and periods, duplication and falsification o f the statistical publications and data etc. A n d though in the encyclopedia the approaches to a solution o f the indicated and many other problems are only scheduled, nevertheless it, to the authors mind, as a whole is the completed work and represents rather full and honesty verified base o f bibliographic data, on which basis it is possible to continue drawing up full and beautiful building o f our future statistics. As a whole the represented work, to the authors mind, is an ideological work, on the spanning o f subject—encyclopedic, and on performance—applied, here and there even deductive, in which its authors from system items, sequentially, on a documentary basis, with a support on bibliographic information tried review and to present all object world, all material invoice o f statistical life in X — X X centuries, all luggage o f statistical inheritance o f our country, which has not analogs in a world history and already therefore deserves general attention and comprehensive study. Figuratively speaking, the authors tried to present the offered encyclopedia as a polygon, on which it is possible to develop the large-scale economic studies, without which in present conditions (conditions o f directly military battles on a field of cloudy reforms, made in country) cannot be won any significant battle. The authors o f the encyclopedia convince themselves (and by the fact o f its publishing want to convince everybody), that the country with so rich and diverse past, not only can not, but has no right to possess bad views to the future. A n d first o f all the statistics o f our country has no rights on it engaging so rich and so brilliant past. A n d this is probably, the main idea o f preparation and issuing o f the present encyclopedia, its special ideological purpose, just by this some kind o f revelation, on inclining o f the authors, it can principally differ from the similar academic encyclopedias, which were prepared and published in our country, and abroad last years. Representing this work as some kind o f the second edition o f before published book on the same theme, the authors at the same time find it necessary to indicate essential differences between them and to add a number o f the additional explanations to the introduction in this connection.
